Condition: Good. 1945. First Edition. 64 pages. No dust jacket. Blue cloth boards with lettering. Contains black and white illustrations. Clean pages and illustrations with light tanning and mild foxing throughout. More pronounced to free endpapers and pastedowns. Binding remains firm. Boards have mild edge-wear with slight rubbing to surfaces and bumping to corners. Moderate sunning to spine and edges with crushing to spine ends. Visible wear marks to boards. Boards are bowed.

Previous owner's inscription to front free endpaper. Boards and spine have minimal shelf-wear, with mild corner bumping and crushing to ends. Spine and edges are moderately tanned. Heavy rubbing and scuffing overall, with some visible marking also.

A book of light verse ( often about dogs ), with humorous drawings by C B Poultney. This appears to be the true first issue of the same book published by Muller in 1966 referred to often as the first edition. Dustwrapper is a little worn and has a piece missing from the top cover corner by the spine, there are several splits in places too. It is a tad browned with slight marks but overall reasonably clean. The pictorial cover below reproducing the wrapper cover is sound and bright save moderate browning where the top corner is exposed. The text is tight and bright. VG in G dustwrapper. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

Professionally reproduced, un-clipped dust wrapper is complete and shows light handling soil on periphery, now in new mylar and displays very well. 52 short tales about 'Pompey' the inimitable, mischievous, lovable little "semi-Sealyham" terrier and 'Patrick' his pal a black cat and learn how he first arrived on the scene as a big-eyed, big-eared, big-lunged kitten - and what Pompey said when they met. What Patrick said is unprintable :). But they become great friends as these stories show.

No names, tears or soil in the tight, bright 134pp text well illustrated with charming line drawings by the author of his pudgy little pets. Original, un-clipped dust wrapper shows light handling soil on cream background panels, small chips at tips and spine ends, and a bit of roughness at head of rear panel. DJ now in new mylar and displays well. A wartime economy edition in order to save paper, this is a most attractive volume in itself, including adventures of both Pompey and Roderick Dhu as well as of Patrick the cat.

Rare chapter book of a Scottish terrier with darling b/w illustrations throughout by the author.

The cover is clean. The corners and the top and bottom of the spine are only slightly bumped and worn. The end block is lightly foxed; the top edge a bit dusty. The pages, but for a few marks, are very clean. The larger pictures might be ideal for framing.

There is light wear on the spine tips, along the edges & on the corners. The spine has light fading where a piece is missing from the dust jacket. The fore-edge & the first 2 pages are very lightly spotted. The contents are clean & unmarked, the binding is tight. States: "First published in 1935". The dust jacket is missing the bottom 2/3rds of the spine with the rest barely holding on. The front & back covers + flaps are all complete & in Very good condition. Now covered in mylar.

HARDCOVER. 1948. Third impression. A very good copy in blue cloth boards with black lettering on the spine. The spine has a hint of sun fading. Light spotting on the top edge. Apart from a bookseller stamp on the front pastedown and a previous owners name on the front free endpaper the contents are fine and unmarked.

The illustrated boards have two small tears to the top edge of the spine which is slightly darkened and there is some light edge wear. Browning to the page edges with some scattered dark spottng. Scattered spotting to the half-title and title pages with some light spotting to the succeeding pages and the book has a musty smell but the pages are otherwise unmarked. The jacket has a detached front flap and there is heavy chipping to the top and bottom of the spine and along the edges of the spine. The spine is also darkened with some edge rubbing and a 4/- price label fixed to it. Chipping to the corners with a two inch closed tear at the top corner of the rear flap. Illustrated by the author. First printing.
