Descrive la preparazione e l'uso di 271 farmaci ed è stata una delle fonti standard per quasi tutti i dispensari e le farmacopee successive, fino al XVII secolo. Include la prima descrizione accurata della preparazione dell'oppio, il primo resoconto noto della terapia con elettroshock (utilizzando un pesce siluro, come fonte di scarica elettrica per porre rimedio al mal di testa) e descrive l'assunzione terapeutica del proprio sangue.
