Een aantal ervan werd eerder gepubliceerd in boekvorm of tijdschrift, maar deze bundel bevat ook compleet nieuwe dagboekgedichten, én een nieuw verhaal met de veelzeggende titel `De laatste kat . Piet `Poezenkrant Schreuders maakte het prachtige ontwerp voor deze feestelijke, maar tegelijk ook ontroerende bundeling verhalen en gedichten, als een ode aan deze eigenzinnige schrijver.

Condition: Good. First Edition. 'Oud zijn is een chronische kwaal. Elke avond voor het slapen gaan hoop ik dat ik weg mag schuiven in de eeuwigheid. Een grafsteentekst heb ik al vastgelegd: Van mensen eindelijk verlost.' Dit jaar viert Frans Pointl zijn tachtigste verjaardag en dat mag een klein wonder heten. In 2009 werd bij de… schrijver het Guillain-Barr?syndroom ontdekt. Wekenlang lag hij op de intensive care aan slangen en buisjes en vocht hij voor zijn leven. Inmiddels woont hij in een Amsterdams verpleeghuis en werkt hij aan nieuwe verhalen en gedichten. Als hij niet kan slapen noteert hij een paar gedachten in zijn grijze blocnote. Die werkt hij dan later uit tot de eerste versie van een verhaal; daarop volgt een tweede versie, een derde versie en zo gaat het maar door. Hij is een schaver en telkens komt er wat bij als hij een nieuwe versie tikt. Daarom houdt hij vast aan de schrijfmachine. Zo worden zijn verhalen beter.; goed / heel goed.

Net als in Poelie de Verschrikkelijke, Pointls kattenverhalen, biedt ook de selectie in dit boek een verhelderende en frisse invalshoek op het werk van deze markante schrijver, die speciaal voor deze bundel ook een nieuw verhaal schreef.; goed / heel goed.
