Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. Published by Rokus, Slovenia, 1993, 154 pages, large hardcover with dust jacket, 12" by 9.75". Trilingual text in Italian, Slovenian, and French. Rare book on the designs for chalices by Secessionist architect and designer Josef Plecnik. Plecnik's sacral designs are little known, yet among the most perfectly realized examples of his Modernist vision, with streamlined yet luxe forms, richly though unostentatiously encrusted in jewels. This lavishly printed book was published upon the recent discovery of several rare examples of his handiwork from the 30's through the 50's - 41 specimens beautifully displayed in both full and close-up color plates, with full annotations for each chalice on facing pages. In excellent condition save for some light edgewear.
