Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. First printing with full number line. Die-cut board book with white plastic comb binding, 12-1/2" x 8", full color illustrations on all pages. Minor rubbing to rear cover, one of the nicest copies we've seen. When I see this book, Pinkey's fourth book, I have to wonder if they told him to only draw white children? Pinkey is one of the great Black American authors & illustrators of the 20th century, winning the Caldecott Award, five Coretta Scott Kings, and the Virginia Hamilton Award. This early, brightly colored book has elements of his later work but is still mostly in step with contemporary illustration.
