Storico catalogo della prima mostra organizzata dal movimento «Novecento». Nato nel 1922 alla galleria Pesaro di Milano per volontà di Anselmo Bucci, Leonardo Dudreville, Achille Funi, Emilio Malerbe, Pietro Marussig, Ubaldo Oppi e Mario Sironi, il gruppo intendeva presentarsi come luogo di sintesi di indirizzi diversi capaci però di rilanciare una nuova visione artistica negli anni successivi alla prima guerra mondiale. Consolidatosi nel tempo, nel febbraio del 1926 il movimento organizzò la sua prima mostra, ospitata dal Palazzo della Permanente di Milano e presieduta da un comitato d'onore composto da Benito Mussolini che tenne ovviamente un discorso inaugurale e da Ada Negri. In quello direttivo presenti invece Margherita Sarfatti e Mario Sironi.
