Original antique steel engraving. Drawn and engraved for Dugdales England & Wales Delineated, c1850. It is in a Hogarth frame and a bevelled grey mount. Mount window 120 x 95 mm; frame 235 x 220 mm overall. Print appears in good condition if a little toned but the frame is a little cracked and chipped and has lost a strip of moulding from the lower edge. Not examined out of the frame. Please see images. 23.5 x 22 cm.

Condition: Good. Hard back binding in publisher's original scarlet cloth covers, black title and author lettering to the spine and the upper panel, black paper end papers. 8vo. 7½'' x 5¼''. Contains [viii] 200 [iv] pp. Spine much sun darkened, one small mark to the front board and in Very clean Good condition. SIGNED by the Editor (John Morley) in black fountain ink to the half-title leaf 'From the Author'. Member of the P.B.F.A. ENGLISH LITERATURE.

See his entry in the Oxford DNB. Laid down on an 8vo leaf of grey paper removed from an album. The autograph is on a strip of paper at the foot, and reads: 'Gul. Cullen Med. Pract. P.' Above this is the stipple engraving, in good condition, showing 'DR. WILLIAM CULLEN' in profile. The artist is named as 'Ridley' and the portrait, in an oval border, is topped by the words 'European Magazine'. Another thin strip of paper, above the engraving, reads: 'From Lot 293 of the collection of Mr. J Naylor: sold by Sotheby Wilkinson and Hodge on 23/7/85'. See Image.
