Huge item when folded-out to be read like a newspaper, each page 17x11.5 inches, illustrated with old cuts and exhibit photography, further texts by critics who hang with Scholte. Pressrun of this item was 15,000 cc. All leaves are covered with crimp-marks (item rather hard to handle, being so large) but we see no spectacular flaws. A good copy. Scholte digs the fine line between kitsch and the grander stuff. One gets a double vision of Scholte's canvases (he is expert as well as silly) and the petition he promotes, which urges an end to these biennials ("NO EXPO NO EXPO; No Expo 2000 a Venezia! ! ! ! Appello Internazionale", fearing that more crowding and tourism will put finis to Venice' fragile lid on its nasty lagoon environment.
