An As New condition set of the life and works of William Colenso, complete in two volumes, published in 2011 and 2012 in a First Paperback Edition state, each being sterling exemplars in softcover format, with unfurled tips, tight bindings, and clean internals, showing only very slight shelf- and edge-wear to the glossy pictorial card-stock wraps. From a publisher's blurb comes "In his more than 200 letters to editors, Colenso wrote mostly for local Hawke's Bay readers. But he was a national celebrity for his opinions, as the clippings from papers outside the Bay scattered through this collection and his widely published obituary notices demonstrate. One correspondent to the Wanganui Herald in January 1882, similarly sympathetic to the plight of Maori, tellingly signed himself, 'COLENSO'S GHOST.' The letters reproduced in this book are all that can be found at present. As well, some other newspaper items have been included if they threw light on the more obscure letters."
