Seller: Peter Harrington. ABA/ ILAB., London, United Kingdom
First Edition
First edition, first impression, compiled with the assistance of several Middle Eastern embassies in London. "It would be a pity. if the visitor to the region thought only in terms of infrastructure, industrialisation and the commercial growth that has followed the sharp rise in oil prices. There is much more than this to study and to see" (p. x). Jonathan Wallace and Peter Kilner were respectively the chairman and deputy chairman of the Middle East Economic Digest. Founded in 1957 by Elizabeth Collard, an adviser to Prime Minister Harold Wilson on Middle Eastern affairs, the organization compiled information from a large number of regional newspapers. Chapters are devoted to individual states, followed by sectional maps, a bibliography, and health and currency information. Octavo. With 8 leaves of colour maps; illustrations and advertisements in text. Original pictorial boards, spine and front cover lettered in black, advertising endpapers. Top edge a little dusty, faint staining internally: a very good copy.
