The Division was unique in that its members included volunteers from eight European nations. Initially formed as a motorized infantry division in 1940, Wikings were upgrad…ed to Panzergrenadiers in November 1942 and Panzers in 1943. The Wikings spent the entire war on the Eastern Front. They fought at Rostov, Kharkov, the Cherkassy pocket, Warsaw and Hungary. At the time of the surrender in Europe the unit was holding its defensive positions in Austria. Written by a veteran of the Wikings. Over 100 photos included in this second edition. Fine copy of the hard cover book still in shrinkwrap. No dust jacket as the book has a laminated pictorial cover. 480 pages.
