Authors with different denominational backgrounds and from a variety of European countries show that the relationship between mission and unity is still as topical as it was at the World Missionary Conference in 1910. The contributions also illustrate that the understanding of mission has changes significantly over the last 100 year. Only for the second time the Societas Oecumenica convened in a predominantly orthodox country. This special context is taken up and reflected in some of the contribution. Finally the questions is considered how the churches in the Balkans deal with their painful memories and how this influences their mission.
