Brossura. Condition: molto buono. Brossura editoriale, in 8° (cm 16,0 x 21,0) pagg XXII + 344. Ottimo esemplare.

Manuscript / Paper Collectible First Edition
First edition. 8vo. 255, [1] pp. Original blue-green cloth, spine lettered and ruled in gilt, dust jacket (ownership blind stamp of James P. Griffin to front free endpaper, otherwise internally clean; jacket edge worn with some loss to tips of spine panel and upper corner of front panel, still a very good copy overall). London, Methuen & Co Ltd. Strawson's second and most famous book, a modern philosophical classic. 'Bold in scope and ambition, it continues to influence debates in metaphysics, philosophy of logic and language, and epistemology. It sets out to describe nothing less than the basic subject matter of our thought. It contains Strawson's now famous argument for descriptive metaphysics and his repudiation of revisionary metaphysics, in which reality is something beyond the world of appearances. Throughout, Individuals advances some highly influential and controversial ideas, such as non-solipsistic consciousness and the concept of a person a primitive concept' (publisher's blurb to the 2002 edition). From the library of the American-born Oxford philosopher James P. Griffin (1933-2019), with his neat ownership stamp to the front free endpaper.
