Vintage portrait photograph of Barbara Pepper from the 1937 film. From the archive of noted Hollywood still photographer Ray Jones. Born in Wisconsin on January 1, 1901, Jones worked for Paramount Pictures in the early 1930s, and went on to be the head of the still photography department at Universal Pictures in 1935, where he worked well into the 1950s. Based on the 1935 novel "Headed for a Hearse" by Jonathan Latimer. A "locked door" mystery, wherein Preston Foster stars as a private detective searches against the clock to find evidence to free Theodore Von Eltz, awaiting the death penalty for murdering his wife, who was killed in a room with all the doors and windows locked from the inside. 8 x 10 inches.
