Hardcover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. A Thorburn, Lucien Davies, C Brock and others. (illustrator). Usual brown decorative cloth. Mild bumping and rubbing to cloth at extremities. Clean and tidy throughout, and firm. A 1901 'New Impression' of the 1896 first, with a chapter entitled 'Classical Sport' by Andrew Lang.

Hardcover. Condition: Fair. Dust Jacket Condition: No Dust Jacket. FAIR / NO DJ. Former library book. xxxvi, 420 pp. Pages are lightly toned, but clean and unmarked except for library treatments, which affect the Dedication page and inside the front cover. Over 30 full page plates plus frontispiece (still complete with tissue paper protector), and numerous in-text illustrations. Front hinge is cracked, causing first section of pages to be somewhat loose, but pages are all still attached to their threads. Frontispiece protrudes the most and its edges have become ragged. Rest of book is solid. Boards covered in brown fabric with elaborate illustration and titling on front cover and spine. Bottom edges are shelfworn, corners and tail of spine are bumped. Top of spine is bumped and has small tears. Some smudges and spots on front, spine, and back, but none of these are significant. Overall, a rather fragile but very special period piece.

Hardcover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. 2 volume set. 1st printing (1897). 632; 655pp. Original red buckram with gilt titles and decoration to upper board and spine, all edges gilt. Both vols GOOD copies, bindings square and reasonably tight, corners gently bumped, cloth covers a little rubbed and worn with some light dampstaining in places, covers largely colour faded particularly spines, gilt still reasonably bright, toning to feps, otherwise internally excellent, all plates present and tissue-guarded; no dust jackets.
