Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Printed in Lahore. Date on the title page. 1,100 copies. Foreword, Preface; xii, 158 pages. The original paper-covered boards, with turquoise cloth on the spine, are a bit rubbed on the extremities with some loss at the corners. The interior is creamy-bright, crisp, and completely clean. The original unclipped dust jacket has a sunned spine with a few small chips at both ends. [Please see my five images of the actual book.] The author, born into an upper-class late Victorian family and christened in the Church of England, became disillusioned with the religion of his childhood and explored various other avenues---with Catholics, Methodists, Presbyterians, Episcopalians, Revivalists, Quakers, Taoists, Confucians and Atheists; he attended spiritualist séances and studied ancient cults. Finally, after meeting up with a Chinese Muslim he found his way. "In the 'Key to the Door', neither a novel nor an autobiography, he tells the fascinating story of his spiritual travail and of his journey's end." As with every book from my father's collection, tipped-in at the front is the small, attractive, acid-free bookplate pictured on my homepage. All books are wrapped with special care and are shipped promptly with tracking; international sales sent via global priority, also with tracking.
