Tan cloth-covered boards decorated & lettered in brown/green/red to front & spine are heavily rubbed, with cloth loss & fraying. Sewn text block is holding, but several signatures have loosened; deep crack at table of contents page. Random spotting & soiling throughout, but pages otherwise moderately tanned & unmarked. NO DJ. Pencil inscriptions and name stamp from two different past owners on front free endpaper. John Henry Goldfrap was a rather prolific author and published fourteen books in The Boy Scouts series from 1911 to 1918 as well as six books in The Motor Cycle Chums series all under the name of Howard Payson. Goldfrap wrote numerous other "series" books under other pseudonyms including Captain Wilbur Lawton (Ocean Wireless Boys; The Boy Aviators; The Dreadnought Boys), Marvin West (The Motor Rangers), Dexter J. Forrester (The Bungalow Boys), and Freemont B. Deering (The Border Boys). A very good- copy.
