Hardcover. Condition: Fair. Undated, but 1895 from preface. Red decorated cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine and front. All edges gilt. Boards are marked and generally grubby. Corners are bumped. Front board has partially parted from the spine along a third of the length. Spine is faded with bumping to ends. A bookplate has been ripped from the fep. Ffep is very tattered to the fore edge where it has stuck out proud. Both inner hinges are cracked. The binding is loose; the bundles are separating. Textblock has one or two grubby marks but is generally reasonably clean. 2 plates are missing. Would need the attentions of a good book binder to realise its full potential. WAF. Some scuffing and wear to cover and spine is darkened and rubbed. Marbled endpapers with split to gutter after the first free endpaper. Small bookseller's stamp to first free endpaper. Some spotting to blank endpapers, but text is generally bright and clean, with just occasional marginal edge spotting. Marbled edges to text block.
