This welcome initiative begins with Dogwork, the perfect theme for a stylish British send-up with everyone rising to the occasion. Edward Allington produces the obligatory pile of plastic turds heaped in a gilded urn while Sophie Ryder's wondrous wire hound pisses on the skirting board. Wladyslaw Kasprzyk's 'Last Supper' is a canine feast of matchbox proportions; Helen Chadwick's fetishistic dog kennel and bone, covered in photographic cat fur and genitals, is a potently oppressive piece. Stuart Brisley's 'The Market Force' presents the bloated corpse of capitalism, Denis Masi Its watchdogs. But the star of this splendid show is inevitably William Wegman's 'Man Ray' seen on video watching tennis. A monstrous array of canine postcards is available while 5 per cent of any sales goes to the Battersea Dogs' Home. Congratulations on this beautifully presented, witty and intelligent show.
