Soft cover. Condition: Good. Camille Pissarro (illustrator). 1st Edition. Camille Pissarro (1830 - 1903) was one of the great impressionist masters. Later he was to develop the Neo Impressionist style. This lovely book, bound in paperback format, is the Catalog of the Exhibition of Pissarro's paintings mounted by the Hayward Gallery, in London, October 1980 to January 1981. The exhibit was mounted under the aegis of the Arts Council of Great Britain (Director, Joanna Drew), the Musees de France (Director, Hubert Landais), and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (Director, Jan Fontein). The result was a stunning and beautiful display of the great Pissarro's work. The paintings are reproduced in the catalog, in 17 color pictures, and 20 monochrome pictures. The book covers Pissarro's paintings, drawings and etchings. The issue was obviously folded twice more for either mailing or insertion in a publication. CONDITION - GOOD PLUS - This is a previously owned book that is clean and serviceable, with the following particulars noted :: EXTERIOR - Mild surface rub - softly bumped corner tips - spine has creasing along its length and nicking with minute tears at spine extremities. BINDING - The book has obviously been read, and the leaves open widely - the text block not being nearly as tight as when issued, and the hinges should be considered tender. INTERIOR - Clean and unmarked throughout.

Per Wiki: "Owing to his criticism of Marxism and of the Communist state system, Ko akowski was effectively exiled from Poland in 1968". He was a MacArthur Fellow, and was awareded the Erasmus Prize, the Kluge Prize, and the Jerusalem Prize. All three volumes here are the first printings in English: Volume 1, "The Founders"; Volume 2, "The Golden Age"; and Volume 3; "The Breakdown". Complete sets somewhat uncommon, as of this writing we see only one other set online. ___DESCRIPTION: All three volumes bound in full navy blue cloth over boards, gilt lettering and publisher's device on the spines, octavo size (8 3/4" by 5 5/8"), approx. 1500 total pages. In dust jackets with a summary of the work on the front flaps, publisher's ads on the back panels. ___CONDITION: Volumes fine, the boards clean, straight corners without rubbing, strong, square text blocks with solid hinges, the interiors clean and bright, and the set entirely free of prior owner markings; other than a hint of dustiness to the fore-edge of one volume clean and as new.
