Owers, running for Justice of the Supreme Court, states that his Democratic opponent is no friend of labor, citing employers' liability bills he backed in 1889. The Herald Democ…rat of August 11, 1906 described Owers as "a plain out-and-out Socialist of the Debs-Haywood type." He is remembered for having issued an injunction against the Citizens? Protective League, a vigilante group that was attacking the Idaho Springs Miners? Union.
