Original brown, black and gilt embossed floral cloth, 5 x 7 1/2 inches, floral endpapers, 312 pp, illustrated with 3 tipped-in plates (title page calls for 6, contents lists 5) . Hardcover, very good+. Corners bumped, rubbed and head and foot of spine, with a 1/4 inch nick at head. Internally, upper corner of preface creased, otherwise tight, clean, paper crisp, unmarked, and apparently never read. Retelling of the doings of the more prominent men of the Old Testament, including Joseph, Moses, Samson, Daaniel and Judas Maccabeus. Religion; Bible studies; Christian; Victorian.

Hardcover, mauve pictorial cloth, (stamped gilt picture of Yankee Hill in rocking chair) , 246 pp + publisher's catalogue, illustrated with 6 tinted plates. Very good. Spine and edges of cloth faded, corners bumped. Internally, previous owner's signature (in pencil) erased small pencil marks on 8 or 9 pp, side edges of 7 or 8 leaves chipped (probably from careless opening of uncut leaves; text unaffected) , rare stray spot of foxing, otherwise tight, clean, unmarked and probably never really read.
