Silver-decorated papered boards; a fine copy with the fine dustwrapper (with an illustration in shades of cream and brown on a light brown background). This important catalogue raisonne, limited to 1500 copies, was compiled in consultation with John Olsen and Jeffrey Makin. Comparison with a copy in a variant dustwrapper (colour-pictorial, on a blue background) indicates this version is printed on superior paper stock, making the volume noticeably thicker. It presents as a much more appealing book, and was probably produced after the other version: why would any publisher go from good to bad? For the record, the only other distinguishing feature we could find is in the ISBNs (this item is 1876832932, the other is 1876832231).…

The contents page is signed and dated (2006), with the signature forming part of an attractive original ink drawing. Comparison with a copy in a variant dustwrapper (illustrated in shades of cream and brown on a light brown background) indicates this version is printed on slightly inferior paper stock, making the volume noticeably thinner. For the record, the only other distinguishing feature we could find is in the ISBNs (this item is 1876832231, the other is 1876832932). Signed.…

First edition, first printing of the definitive catalogue raisonné of Olsen?s graphics. This appears to be a trial binding for the deluxe edition, which was subsequently bound in brown cloth and housed in a slipcase rather than box. The deluxe edition was limited to 70 copies, specially bound differently to the standard edition and included an original signed etching by Olsen bound in, Floating, also printed in an edition of 70. We have not encountered another example in this binding, which is probably a trial binding for the deluxe edition. Provenance : Jenny Zimmer, publisher and editor of the book.…

After an extensive search to locate any of John Olsen's prints that may be missing from the first edition of this popular book, this the third edition which includes all of the artist's etchings made since 2005 when this book was last published. The recent etchings retain all the verve and joie de vivre that is associated with John Olsen's art in whatever medium. They include new frogs and a series titled 'Life Class', with his witty interpretations of artists 'drawing from the model'. Other recent works include his fabulous version of 'Humpty Dumpty'.…
