Deutscher Grafiker und Exlibris-Künstler. Zunächst bis 1970 Lehre zum Maler mit Meisterprüfung. 1972-75 Studium Malerei und angewandte Grafik an der Burg Giebichenstein (Halle). 1975-81 Lehrer für Tiefdruck an der Volkshochschule Erfurt. Danach freischaffend tätig. 1985-2011 entstanden insgesamt 254 Exlibris. Rechts unten in Bleistift signiert und datiert: Gropp 98. Mittig darunter Titel: abwarten. 10,0 x 7,0 cm (Darstellung / Platte), 32 x 23 cm (Blatt).
