First Edition. 3/4 brown morocco, black pebbled leather, bordered in gilt, spine panel lettered in gilt. 792 pp., illus. w/ engraved plates with tissue guards, folding maps mounted on both front and rear pastedown. Leather is a bit rubbed along edges, with mild exposure at most corners, a f…ew light scuffs on spine and along joints but generally well preserved. Front folding map is a bit toned with slight separation at several fold junctures, partial separation along one horizontal fold, and short closed tear, overall still decently preserved; rear folding map shows one closed tear across one of its eight panels, otherwise fully intact. Text block is clean and unmarked, all plates present and fully intact. A very nicely preserved copy of the original edition, not a modern era reprint. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Book.
