Add to basketNo Binding. Condition: Very Good. Original exhibition poster by Norbert Schwontkowski. 84 x 59 cm, in very good condition. Norbert Schwontkowski (born April 29, 1949 in Bremen-Blumenthal ; June 14, 2013 in Bremen ) was a German painter . Schwontkowski studied free painting from 1968 to 1973 at the Academy of Design in Bremen and… at the Academy of Fine Arts Hamburg . In 1973 he had his first solo exhibition at the Kunstschau Böttcherstraße in Bremen. In 1974 he took part in the exhibition 20 Bremer at the Kunsthalle Bremen . He took part in several group and solo exhibitions in New Zealand, the Netherlands and Italy. In 1985 he received the Bremer Förderpreis for Fine Arts . In 1994 he was awarded the Bremer Art Prize together with Andreas Slominski . In the same year he received the Overbeck Prize for Fine Arts . He is now one of those contemporary German painters whose work is also attracting attention in the international art scene. His paintings and other works can be found in several private and public collections in Germany and abroad. In 2003, Norbert Schwontkowski was one of the more than 100 new members admitted to the German Artists' Association in the last four years. Forty new members were offered the opportunity to exhibit at the Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn (on the occasion of the association's centenary) ; among them were Harald Naegeli , Bjørn Melhus , and Susanne Weirich . After Schwontkowski had already held teaching positions in Bremen and Greifswald, as well as a visiting professorship in Braunschweig, he was appointed professor of painting at the Hamburg Academy of Fine Arts in 2005, a position he resigned from in 2009. Schwontkowski's mostly representational pictorial themes play with the unconscious and the surreal; his figures and motifs, created using a variety of painterly means, often float in vast, undefined spaces.
