Apart from a stamp on the first title page the text inside appears clean and clear throughout. 'The Alienation of Reason: A History of Positivist Thought" by Leszek Ko?akowski explores the development of positivist philosophy, from its origins to the Vienna Circle, examining its core tenets and historical context. The book analyzes positivism's claims about knowledge, its relationship to science, and its impact on various intellectual and cultural spheres. Ko?akowski argues that positivism, despite its contributions, ultimately leads to a form of intellectual alienation by limiting inquiry to empirically verifiable phenomena and rejecting metaphysical or speculative thought.' 230 pages. 5.75 x 8.5 inches. "A documented authoritative history of Germany's war against the world in the years 1918 to 1939 as part of a Thirty Years War; and of the failure of the allies to recognize and stay united against this undeclared but continuing assault. Reveals the German expansionist and militarist policies which were carried on by all the governments of Germany and which waged a successful war against the western powers by splitting them up and utilizing well-meaning but misinformed support from western liberals and utopians. Includes complete documentation from memoirs and state papers. Hardcover. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Fair. Illustrated by Mary Berg (illustrator). Special Edition. "The first authentic eyewitness account of the Polish Jews' ordeal by Nazi terror. The author was 15 years old when Hitler marched into Poland. From that time, until her arrival in the United States in 1944, she kept a day-to-day record of her four years in the ghetto itself, a brief period of confinement in a Warsaw prison prior to her dispatch to a French internment camp, and her eventual journey to freedom. As a factual report on the life and death of a people, this book ranks with the remarkable documents of the war." - dust jacket. "Mary Berg (born Miriam Wattenberg 1924-2013) was active in telling the story of the Warsaw Ghetto through the early 1950s, being on radio and making appearances to publicize what we now call the Holocaust. After that, she dropped out of public view, resolutely refusing to participate publicly in any Holocaust-related events, zealously guarding her privacy." - Wikipedia.
