Rebound in dark olive buckram cloth (1940s/50s?) with addition of new endpapers and flyleaves; patches of surface abrasion to spine and boards; chipping losses to spine's maroon title label and black date label with latter having lettering loss. Small stains to toned/foxed text block edges. Bookplate of Lucius Bryan Dabney on front pastedown. Some foxing throughout but strongest in initial and rear leaves. This book was acquired from the estate of Vicksburg, Mississippi attorney Lucius Bryan Dabney Sr., 1893-1967, (with his aforementioned bookplate) whose insightful, ardent, and voluminous accumulation of Mississippi Valley-related books and papers is preserved as the Natchez Trace Collection at the University of Texas at Austin.
