Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. two volumes. old half calf gilt, the spines with six raised bands decorated in gilt, and blind, a little rubbed, small piece chipped from foot of vol one. Uncut, complete with folding hand colored map, 2 plates and 2 folding tables. Map with a short tear, but a very nice set. Signature of david sterling on each title. Second edition.

Folding table facing page 288 has large tears and misfolds. Folding table facing page 654 has last line of text cropped. ; Second edition. vi, [2], 771, [1 (addenda & corrigenda)] pages + colour folding frontispiece map + 5 plate leaves (2 illustrations facing pages 104 and 225, 2 folding tables facing pages 288 and 654, 1 plan facing page 738). Half leather binding, worn. Page dimensions: 203 x 124mm.

Bound in contemporary half calf, the spines in five panels, gilt, the boards marbled. Very small area of loss of leather to first volume to the number panel and tiny 6mm. split to lower rear hinge.
