Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. pp520-527, illustrated. Removed from AMERICAN ANTIQUITY. JOURNAL OF THE SOCIETY FOR AMERICAN ARCHAEOLOGY, Volume 37, Number 4, October, 1972. Wrps. VG. May contain a first or last xeroxed page. Abstract: "Using data collected by NASA in the Tehuacan Valley, Mexico, tests were undertaken to deter…mine the effectiveness of aerial color infrared film for archaeological reconnaissance. The study area was chosen primarily because MacNeish's Tehuacan Archaeological-Botanical Project (1960-1964) provided a convenient check of site visibility on the photographs, and because microenvironmental zones have been delineated in the valley allowing visibility of sites in different microenvironments to be determined. Our tests indicate that the type of cultural feature or its age are not as important as the environmental situation in distinguishing the site. The greatest archaeological value, however, of color infrared photography is in the delineation of microenvironmental zones and the construction of natural maps rather than the identification of cultural features.".

Wraps. Condition: Very good. Presumed First Edition, First printing. ii, 22 pages. Illustrations (color). Acronyms. Updated Lessons Learned. ASC National Work Breakdown Structure. Cover has slight wear and soiling. This was issued by Sandia National Laboratories for NNSA's Office of Advanced Simulation & Computing as SAND 2013-3…951P. The Advanced Simulation and Computing Program (or ASC) is a super-computing program run by the National Nuclear Security Administration, in order to simulate, test, and maintain the United States nuclear stockpile. The program was created in 1995 in order to support the Stockpile Stewardship Program (or SSP). The goal of the initiative is to extend the lifetime of the current aging stockpile. The majority of ASC's research is done on super-computers in three different laboratories. After the United States' 1992 moratorium on live nuclear testing, the Stockpile Stewardship Program was created in order to find a way to test, and maintain the nuclear stockpile. In response, the National Nuclear Security Administration began to simulate the nuclear warheads using supercomputers. As the stockpile ages, the simulations have become more complex, and the maintenance of the stockpile requires more computing power. Over the years, due to Moore's Law, the ASC program has created several different supercomputers with increasing power, in order to compute the simulations and mathematics.

Contact seller5-star sellerEarly reprint ("Fifteenth Thousand" as stated upon title page; first published 1851). 370 pages. Hardcover: H 19.5cm x L 13.25cm. Contemporary brown cloth; several black ink stains to boards and slightly sunned spine; bumping and slight wear at spine ends and board corners. Strong toning to pastedowns; three antiquarian ink insc…riptions Port Gibson, Mississippi resident Samuel Briscoe, Esq. on front free endpaper with yet another on front flyleaf with those having some carry-through impressions onto successive title and Preface leaves; varied foxing (occasionally quite strong) throughout; several ink blots/stains obscuring some text on pages 119-120; top corners of pages 129-130 and 341-342 creased from past fold-down. Binding is firm. Preface by editor James Young who, as the title page notes, served as Grand Worthy Patriarch of the Grand Division of the Sons of Temperance in Kentucky. Features seventeen essays by various contributors including the renowned Dr. Daniel Drake of Cincinnati, and Methodist Episcopal Church theologian Reverend Thomas O. Summers. The book also has three notable Mississippi contributors: Reverend A.B. Longstreet of Oxford, twice president of University of Mississippi ("The Voice of Warning" - pages 41-60); Rev. William Winans of Woodville ("An O'er True Tale" - pages 113-118); and Rev. Philip P. Neely [Philip Phillips Neely] of Columbus ("Idella Pemberton, of the Prayer of Faith" - pages 291-298). As for the enthusiastic owner, a cemetery reference site notes a Samuel M. Briscoe (1849-1894) of Claiborne County, Mississippi and, although obviously only age 5 upon this book's publication, the penmanship and ink is certainly contemporary to 1850s-1870s.
