Nathan has penned a curious inscription to Barr on the front free endpaper: "For Ingle Barr - The Married Look, which is out of print -- and which is owned by Janet -- Ruth -- Clementine -- Brigham -- Nathan -- Huston -- Tenney -- Robert Nathan." We presume the Ruth and Clementine are referencing characters by the same name in the novel; and Janet was his wife at the time of writing; We've been unable to guess at confidently parse the nuances of the inscription,thought.
