Contemporary quarter leather binding; leather spine scuffed at ends with bright gilt stamped horizontal bars delineating five compartments with 2nd and 4th compartments having bright gilt lettering; dark blue paper boards rubbed with slender wear at edges including at leather tipped fore-edge corners. Text block edges speckled. Near page-long black ink inscription dated Christmas 1854 but seems to be in a more modern felt tip ink than an antiquarian ink. Foxing throughout. Binding is firm.
