Illustrated paper covers with some smallish 'closed' tears and chips, (repaired to the blank margins on the reverse) & some wear to the extremities, with some small loss to the very edge of the spine (c. 3 cm x 1cm either side) - to the blank blue front and the blank cream inner edges. A faint number '30' on the front cover Staples lightly rusting. All paper browning, but relatively uniformly, A little darker brown to the edges/page fore-edges, and the magazine has a couple of margin tears, through to about page 22 o/w internally generally very good. 64 pp. An Important issue as the Zale and Graziano cover relates to coverage of the third and final bout between these two fights. Zale regained his middleweight title with a third round knockout of Graziano. All three of their fights were won inside the distance, and have to be considered among the most brutal in boxing history." . The 4 pp illustrated article on the fight is by Nat Fleischer. Articles on new middleweight champion Rocky Graziano are featured in this issue. There are also articles on boxing's ills, white hopes and coverage of a recent bout of the legendary Willie Pep.

This is one of two Rex Layne Ring Magazine covers that features a rising heavyweight star. Unfortunately, Rocky Marciano would knock out Layne in his only championship fight. This issue also covers the recent Walcott and Charles heavyweight title match, and the fortunes of aging Joe Louis.

Softcover. 64 pp. With black and white photos and advertisements throughout. Very Good with a small chip in the upper left hand corner of the cover and a few small page creases.

This issue features an article on the comeback of heavyweight contender Rex Layne. Layne would get knocked out by Rocky Marciano, and never get another shot at the title. Other articles focus on Rocky Marciano and Sugar Ray Robinson.

4to, magazine, glossy covers, illustrated, 64 pp. Some spine and extremity wear, but still a very respectable cover, contents with normal aging and browning; very good. The cover features Joe Louis and Jersey Joe Walcott, which set the stage for a return bout on June 25, 1948. After a difficult first fight, which many believed Walcott won, Louis won by a knockout in the second bout. This issue provides a lot of information on Joe Louis, including a detailed account of his ring earnings. Perhaps the significance of this contest was that it would be only the third time in history that two African Americans would fight for the heavyweight title. However, boxingâÂÂs' color line was not as rigid as some other sports, and by the late 1940s there had been several African American world champions.

Roland La Starza is the featured fighter in this issue. La Starza would fight Rocky Marciano twice and lose a very close decision in their first fight before Marciano was champion. While he earned a title shot after winning a couple of major fights, he was crushed by Marciano in his championship bid, losing by TKO in the 11th round.
