Er w…urde in London bekannt, wo seine Tänze auf den Hofbällen gespielt wurden. Ab 1830 wieder in Paris, gab er Konzerte in den Champs-Elysées und leitete Bälle in der Opéra-Comique. Er galt als "König der Quadrille". Er schrieb seine Tänze teilweise nach Opernmotiven.

"After the July Revolution [Musard] returned to France and conducted at masked balls at the Théâtre des Varié…tés. He then became artistic director of a series of popular open-air concerts and dances on the Champs-Elysées, which marked the beginning of the Concerts-Musard; these were an immediate and enormous success. He also conducted for masked balls at the Salle Ventadour and the Opéra-Comique, and eventually in 1835 and 1836 for the balls at the Opéra itself. He continued to be a popular conductor until 1845. La musique de danse aujourd'hui oubliée et rarement jouée, principalement écrite sous forme de quadrille, est un genre exclusivement français destiné aux fêtes et qui eut un énorme succès au XIXème siècle. Elle était aussi célèbre en son temps que les valses de Vienne aujourd'hui. Philippe Musard (1792-1859) est compositeur de musiques de danses et chef d'orchestre de bal à Paris et à Londres. Sa carrière commence à Londres où il dirige des concerts-promenades et il est chef d'orchestre des bals de la reine Victoria. Vers 1840 Musard introduit au bal du carnaval de l'Opéra de Paris* le « can-can » qui se danse en couple. Le recueil contient une quinzaine de quadrilles et valse, dont Les laveuses du Couvent, Cheval de bronze, Les puritains, Le Domino noir et L'ambassadrice. Jean Baptiste Joseph Tolbeque (1797-1869) est un musicien belge/français, violoniste, compositeur de musiques festives et chef d'orchestre dont la carrière s'est déroulée en France. Il écrit très tôt dans sa carrière des danses et devient avec le temps le plus célèbre compositeur de son temps dans ce domaine. Le recueil contient une quinzaine de quadrilles et valse, dont La croix d'or. Louis Antoine Jullien (1812-1860) et chef d'orchestre français, musicien, compositeur et directeur de salles de bal parisiennes, comme les théâtres de la Pte St Martin et de la Gaîté, le Casino-Paganini et les bals de l'Opéra au Carnaval de Paris. Il était en cela le grand rival de Philippe Musard. Le recueil contient les deux quadrilles Le lac et L'homme soirée. En outre le recueil contient 4 quadrilles de Baudouin, 3 quadrilles et valses viennoises de Lavocan et une quadrille du Prison d'Edimbourg (par Michele Carafa?).
