Dark aquamarine slipcase rubbed with wear along edges and seam corners; slight splitting at a bottom seam but still firm. "First regular edition" (as stated upon copyright page). [18], 147 plus unpaged plates, Part II, and Index. Hardcover: H 27.75cm x L 19.25cm. No dust jacket. Light green cloth with some mottling; spine mildly darkened and with 1.5cm somewhat repaired tear above heel; spine's paper title label rubbed and toned with unfortunate depressed gouge causing loss to "Grand" lettering and well as two other small surface losses. Some scattered spots of light soiling; Index section's title page has two small chips at its fore-edge margin; interior pages overall remain quite clean. Binding is firm. Numerous b/w plates along with b/w foldout "A Chart of the Aintree Race Course" by George Annand bound-in immediately preceding Index section. A good copy in a good+ slipcase.
