A very g…ood example. Previous ownership inscription to half title. Complete with 125 full-page plates, and a frontispiece etching of the Menpes children by Whistler. One of 500 limited edition copies, this one numbered 340. Signed by the author, Mortimer Menpes, on the limitation page. Mortimer Menpes was a student of renowned American Gilded Age painter, James McNeill Whistler. The pair met in 1880 while Menpes was on a sketching tour in Brittany, France, and remained close until Whistler's passing in 1903.
