ITEM ONE (typed letter, one page, quarto, slightly creased, with one pin hole): His 'change of address and the recent crisis have both hindered my reply to your letter'. Would be honoured to be one of the Society's Cantor Lecturers, and suggests as title 'Achievements of British Chemical Industry in the last Twenty-five Years'. 'I think you will appreciate this preference. There is but litttle to distinguish the period 1900-1913 from 1890-1900 or even earlier decades. But the last 25 years will include the renaissance in British Chemical industry, engendered by the World War.' Final paragraph discusses practicalities of lecture. ITEM TWO (autograph, one page, octavo): It will be 'equally convenient' for him to lecture on the alternative date, and he requests confirmation. ITEM THREE (autograph, one page, octavo): He is 'leaving town during the coming week' and asks for the 'honorarium for the Cantor Lectures delivered last month' to be forwarded.
