L'esordio in corsa della prima Ferrari, a Piacenza l'11 maggio 1947 è stato sicuramente un insuccesso. Un "insuccesso promettente" come lui stesso ebbe a commentare. Ma fu veramente un insuccesso sfortunato, come sembrava allora, a invece un semplice tassello di quel più ampio disegno fortunato che avrebbe portato la Ferrari ai vertici della notorietà? Il successo, la prima vittoria della Ferrari, arrivò due settimane dopo, ma in uno scenario assolutamente diverso.
