Affixed to the front inside cover is Tarn's signature -ex libris- custom bookplate, featuring his iconic anthropomorphic sun face illustration. This adds an excellent provenance pedigree for collectors of American landscape art history and modern literature alike. CONTENT & ILLUSTRATIONS: An absolute monumental landmark survey published to accompany the extensive 1997 retrospective exhibition of Thomas Moran's paintings of the American West. The massive 400-page volume is heavily and beautifully illustrated throughout, showcasing 119 brilliant full-color plates and 215 crisp black-and-white illustrations documenting his depictions of Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon, and early frontier expeditions.
