This was David Heyler's copy who was a close friend of John Steinbeck and an avid collector of his work. On a blank page in the back of the book, David Heyler has written a description of a presentation copy of "The Grapes of Wrath" limited to 10 copies signed by Steinbeck. Copy number one of this limited edition of "The Grapes of Wrath" was sold by Bonham's Auction house in October of 2023 and was inscribed to David and Toni Heyler by Steinbeck. Book is protected in a custom cut clear mylar cover. All books are carefully wrapped and shipped in a box.

Light age toning.**AUTHOR Harry Thorton Moore (1908-1981) was an early bibliographer of the American novelist John Steinbeck, and winner of a Guggenheim Fellowship for English Literature in 1958 and 60. At the point of publication, Steinbeck had written only seven novels, a play and a book of short stories. Other of his titles concern the writers D.H. Lawrence, Henry James, and E.M. Foster, and he also wrote literary criticism for the New Republic (Boston College Burns Library Archive). **PRINTER Norman W. Forgue (1904-1985) was an African American fine printer born in Chicago, whose Black Cat Press produced over three hundred publications beginning in 1932, and "winning numerous awards from the American Institute of Graphic Arts and other graphic arts organizations."
