Front board and spine are detached from textblock but still present and attached to rear hinge. Pages remain bright and clear with minimal tanning and foxing. Thumb-marking present. Notable loss to title page and rear endpaper. Brown staining to gutters throughout. Noticeable creasing to gutter. Cracking to hinges and gutters, leaving binding threads exposed. Boards have heavy edge-wear with bumping to corners, crushing to spine ends and rub wear all over. Notable tanning to spine and edges. Some splits to spine. Noticeable peeling leather to spine and edges. Black marks overall.

Carmichael was from a famous Socttish family and this is a memorial to his brief life of some 32 years. Engraving of his grave comprises the last plate superb copy, unique press book, no other copy exists for sale as far we have researched.
