Sections are: 1. Opening of the West: Explorers and Mountain Men, by Dale Morgan; 2. Transportation in the American West, by Oscar Osburn Winther; 3. Treasures of the American West, by Oscar Lewis; 4. Indians and Soldiers of the American West, by Don Russell; 5. The Law of the American West, by Wayne Gard; 6. Cowboys and Horses of the American West, by Ramon F. Adams; 7. Guns of the American West, by Robert Easton; 8. Wild Life of the American West, by Natt N. Dodge; 9. A Sampler of Western Folklore and Songs, by B. A. Botkin; and 10. A Gallery of Western Art, by Clarence P. Hornung. Section 9 includes sheet music to many songs, and Section 10 includes reproductions of many famous paintings, some in color. Includes "Suggestions for Additional Reading," an index, and a page of brief paragraph biographies of each section author. 8½ x 11 inches, 608 pages. Book is in very good condition, but the dust jacket has many chips and tears around the edges, some of which were previously mended with scotch tape on the inside. Unusually heavy, will require extra postage.
