Book; edges spotted, ink inscription, jacket dusty with a few short tears. Lionel Shapiro was a Canadian journalist and novelist. As war correspondent for The Montreal Gazette, he landed at the Allied invasion of Sicily, Salerno and Juno Beach on D-Day with the Canadian forces. The Sixth of June (filmed as D-Day. The Sixth of June), was a romantic 'love triangle' story set against the events of Operation Overlord. Script marked copy 178, indecipherable pencil surname to cover (possibly that of Lee Garmes, director of photography).
