(Evans 22476) (Grolier Hundred, #11) (Sabin 21930) A solid example. Most scholars agree that the "profound originality, logical acumen, and critical discrimination in the use of terms," which characterize the Freedom of Will, entitle Edwards to be called the "first great philosophic intelligence in American history" ; this work is described by Thomas Johnson as "one of the few great books in English theology." (Grolier 100, #11) The first printing of "Freedom of Will" was published in 1754 in Boston by S. Keeland.
