Published in 1971, Chicanas Speak Out includes the article "Women: New Voice of La Raza" by Mirta Vidal, a statement by the organizer of the first National Chicana Conference Elma Barrera, and workshop resolutions from the first National Chicana Conference, attended by over 600 participants in Houston, Texas in May 1971. This feminist pamphlet comes from the library of the late influential Jewish lesbian feminist, theorist, activist, and scholar Dr. Bette S. Tallen (1950-2023). 8 1/2" X 5 3/8". 15pp. Mild wear to staplebound pictorial wraps, with small tears to head and tail of spine and light foxing and dust soiling to wraps. Binding is sound. Light creasing and occasional smudge to pages, else unmarked.
