Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Early Edition. Miniature / Miniscule. 4 by 3 cms. pp 93. Engraved title page and 5 plates. Printed by Maulde Renou, but with a Marcilly imprint. The 5 illustrations depict scenes from the life of Christ. The prayers are arranged for different ceremonies/ masses: morning prayers, evening prayer, a…nd prayers during communion and vespers. A tiny book for the use of children - very popular and issued for many years mid 19th century in a variety of printings and bindings. Text in French. This copy is in a white ivory style binding typical of prayer books of the time, with the word 'Messe' printed on the cover. Red leather unprinted spine, possibly later. All egdes gilt. Small inkstain to corner of one page. Very good indeed. c. 1840.
