This abridged version for young children from the original book White-Saddle published in 1934 includes a cut-out of White Saddle on stiff paper. White Saddle was a real pony from the Shetland Islands. Born in 1903, she came to America from the Shetland Island. Ethel, her husband Messenger, and daughter Jane had a log cabin on a plot of land in Ohio. The pony won several awards at the Ohio State Fair. She died in 1940.
