First edition thus, translated fr…om the Russian monograph published in 1994. This title, the first in a new series from Flying Machines Press, breaks new ground on Sikorsky's early designs during his Russian years. Originally designed as a two-seat trainer in 1914, the plane was soon employed in a reconnaissance roll and eventually as a fighter. Though out-classed by mid 1916 the S-16 holds the distinction of being the first indigenous Russian single-engined aircraft design to see series production. No previous ownership marks. A clean, flat, fresh and unmarked copy. Near fine.
