Avalanche Press Panzer Grenadier - Supplements - Eastern Front Iron Curtain (NM) (unpunched) Manufacturer: Avalanche Press Product Line: Panzer Grenadier - Supplements - Eastern Front Type: Softcover Code: APL0819 Copyright Date: 2007 Author: Mike Bennighof, Doug McNair Please review the condition and any condition notes for the exact condition of this item. Please feel free to contact us with any questions. Product Description: In the years immediately following the defeat of Nazi Germany, some leaders among the victorious Allies believed that war between the two remaining superpowers was not only inevitable, it would come very soon. The United States and the Soviet Union continued to design and build new armored vehicles and other weapons for this looming war, but the âCold Warâ would drag on for almost 45 years without ever resulting in open battle. Iron Curtain is a supplement introducing the post-war weapons of the two superpowers to the Panzer Grenadier system. The scenarios are all hypothetical, of course, but are based on what generals of either side believed would be the course of a war in the years immediately after 1945. This module is not playable by itself, but requires ownership of Road to Berlin and Battle of the Bulge. For those fascinated by huge tanks with big guns, this is the ultimate in tactical armored wargaming. New pieces include the Soviet Josef Stalin III and Josef Stalin IV heavy tanks, T-44 medium tank and Su101 assault gun. There are also infantry armed with the awesome AK-47 assault rifle, still a front-line weapon around the world 60 years after its development. An American player will need powerful weapons to counter that arsenal, and Iron Curtain provides. There are M26 âPershingâ heavy tanks, Sherman âJumboâ assault tanks, M24 Chaffee light tanks, M4 Sherman tanks with a 76mm gun, M28 ultra-heavy assault tanks, and M29, M30 and M32 heavy tanks. Plus M36 tank destroyers, M39 full-tracked armored personnel carriers, and 90mm anti-tank guns. Each scenario has its own card in a spiral-bound booklet, just like the popular South Africaâs War and Blue Division.…

But that didn't keep staff officers from the South American navies and the Royal Navy from wondering what would happen if the Axis fleets did penetrate into the region. U.S. Army Chief of Staff Gen. George C. Marshall considered a Japanese attempt to damage or destroy the Panama Canal to be the likely opening move of a war in the Pacific, making the sea lanes around Tierra del Fuego vital to the Allied war effort. Strait of Magellan is a supplement for the Second World War at Sea series. There are ten scenarios, or separate game situations, based on battles that might have taken place in these waters, but ultimately did not. This module is not playable by itself, but requires ownership of Cone of Fire, Midway, Bismarck and Leyte Gulf games and East of Suez supplement.…

Please feel free to contact us with any questions. Product Description: As war loomed over Germany in the early summer of 1866, Bavaria aligned itself with Austria against Prussia and armed for war. The Bavarian chief of staff, Ludwig Freiherr von der Tann, met with the Austrian leadership and suggested that the Bavarian army march into Bohemia. There they would form the left wing of the Austrian North Army, and along with the Saxons would hold off the Prussian First Army at Jicin while the Austrians dealt with the Prussian Second Army. Von der Tannâs bold plan might well have given the Allies victory, but the Austrian commander, Ludwig von Benedek, turned him down and Bavaria pursued a separate strategy. By the time Benedek changed his mind and called for the Bavarians to advance, it was already too late. Battles of 1866: Blood & Iron is an expansion book for Battles of 1866: Frontier Battles. It adds the Royal Bavarian Army to the game, based on the Von der Tann plan. There are six scenarios included plus background on the Jicin campaign and the Bavarian proposal to participate. While this battle never took place, the scenarios are based on actual operational plans. This module is not playable separately; it requires ownership of Battles of 1866: Frontier Battles. Contents: -One Book -64 playing pieces (24 huge, 40 merely large).…

Product Description: In April 1942, the Japanese Combined Fleet offered Fourth Fleet the carrier Kaga (then completing repairs to the hull damage that kept her out of the Indian Ocean operations) for the upcoming Operation MO, the capture of Port Moresby. Fourth Fleetâs commander, Shigeyoshi Inoue, had been the pre-war head of naval aviation and recognized that one carrier would not be enough. Combined Fleet gave him two (Shokaku and Zuikaku), and these ships fought the Battle of the Coral Sea. First Air Fleet is a Campaign Study based on Inoueâs recommendations, that in obedience to the classic principle of concentration of force, all six carriers of First Air Fleet should be deployed for the operation. Weâll study how that might have played out, and also Combined Fleet commander Isoroku Yamamotoâs initial idea to use just one heavy carrier (Kaga) and then to use three (Kaga, Shokaku and Zuikaku). And of course, possible American responses. With ten new scenarios for Coral Sea, using additional pieces from Midway. Youâll need Midway Deluxe Edition and Coral Sea to play the scenarios.…

Product Description: Throughout the Great War, staff officers of the High Seas Fleet suggested sending a battle cruiser around the northern tip of Britain into the Atlantic Ocean to prey on enemy shipping. Moltke proved the concept in June 1912 with her visit to New York, and scouting forces commander Franz Hipper urged that she be dispatched into the Atlantic. Later the project would be revived, with the Iron Dog herself, Derfflinger, which boasted 40 percent greater range. On the other side of the Atlantic, the United States Navy feared the threat of German battle cruisers attacking the troop convoys packed with tens of thousands of Doughboys. They deployed every American capital ship - dreadnoughts, pre-dreadnoughts, and armored cruisers - to cover the convoys, and asked the Japanese to help as well. No attacks took place, but you can play them out in Atlantic Breakout 1918, a Great War at Sea Campaign Study. Eight scenarios re-create the situation exactly as it stood in May 1915, September 1918 and October 1918: all of the convoys, all of the reaction forces are in place. And then we inject what the Germans hoped and the Allies feared, a battle cruiser loose among them. And as always, we have the full background story for you, based on original documents. The operational scenarios take place on the map from Second World War at Sea: Bismarck, with pieces from Great War at Sea: Jutland, U.S. Navy Plan Emerald, Remember the Maine, and Rise of the Dragon.…

For the next two months the Slovaks fought the Germans, ultimately failing to eject them. In March 1939, the small nation of Slovakia declared its independence from Czechoslovakia and immediately faced invasion from its neighbor Hungary. Product Description: In February 1942, the German Navy prepared a top-secret mission, known as Operation Cerberus, to move the battle cruisers Scharnhorst and Gneisenau (known to British sailors as the âWicked Sistersâ) and heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen from Brest in western France to Norway. Without special training operations or any other moves that might alert the British, they would suddenly dart up the narrow English Channel. The daring âChannel Dashâ caught the British by surprise, and all three ships made it to German though Gneisenau suffered damage that would never be fully repaired. As a cover story for the preparations, the German Navy put about the rumor that the three ships would head south, around the Cape of Good Hope and across the Indian Ocean to join the Japanese in the Dutch East Indies. Crews were told of this objective, tropical helmets and uniforms were loaded, and rumors spread through the French dock workers. Wicked Sisters is a Second World War at Sea Campaign Study making this deception a reality. Itâs a set of thirteen scenarios tracing this cruise that never happened. The German squadron is pretty much on its own until they reach safe harbor. The Royal Navy has no intention of letting them get there, and the U.S. Navy has no intention of allowing them to survive. Youâll need Bismarck Second Edition or Playbook Edition, South Pacific, Horn of Africa, Eastern Fleet and Java Sea to play the scenarios.…

Product Description: In November 1916, the freshly-reelected U.S. President Woodrow Wilson renewed his earlier attempts to mediate a peace between the warring European powers. On December 18th Wilson sent identical notes to the warring powers asking them to state their conditions for peace, and later offered to mediate a settlement. The warring sides rejected his offer. Wilsonâs failure marked the last chance for a negotiated peace to end the Great War before one side collapsed. What if he had succeeded? What if the First Great War had come to an end in December 1916, sparing the lives of millions and uncountable destruction? The Second Great War is a sourcebook describing the world of Wilsonâs Peace, one in which the great empires of Eastern Europe - Germany, Austria-Hungary, Russia and the Ottoman Empire â" survived for another generation. In this alternative reality, war returned to Europe in 1940 as the vengeful authoritarian regimes in France, Italy and Russia unleash aggressive war against the prosperous social democracies of Germany, Austria and Poland. That background forms the setting for our Second Great War at Sea series.…
