Hardback with DJ. Seaman finished the work after Packe's death. During his reign (1312-1377) , Edward III fought savage wars against the Scots and French, avenged his father's murder, and suffered a lonely, solitary death. Michael St John Packe (1916 1978) was an English historian, biographer, and - interestingly enough - a foremost cricketer. He was the author of The Life of John Stuart Mill (1954) , and four other historical works. The book on Mill was well received. It was called by Friedrich Hayek "the definitive biography of Mill for which we have so long been waiting." Packe then began work on a biography of Edward III, but the book was left incomplete at his decease. I was completed by L. C. B. Seaman. ; Large 8vo 9" - 10" tall; ix, 318 pages.
